“Chakotay”

This is the second post under Google Images Goofs. This time, I searched our favorite first officer, Chakotay. Once again, there are ten pictures, 1 is the least weird, 10 is the most. Enjoy!

This is the first post in a new category I’m calling, “google images goofs.” You can find it in the Misc tab. Basically, this is where I searched something on Google and got something really crazy. The title is what was searched, and the following images are listed in order from 1-10, 1 being the least weird (maybe it was still what I searched for but a little out there) and 10 being the craziest (not even star trek related). So, hope you like it! This one’s for Kathryn Janeway, our favorite Star Trek Captain.

The episode begins with Captain Janeway dressed as a Klingon, fighting a hirogen on the holodeck. But this is no ordinary program; Janeway and the crew are all linked to the programs through nural links, making them think they’re part of the program. Neelix is hanging out on holodeck 1, with Klingons, and the rest of the crew is stuck on holodeck 2, in a WWII program. The hirogens have taken control of the ship and play as the nazis in the WWII program. The crew is part of the resistance, but not just in the program.

Eventually, one of the crew “snaps out of it.” The Doctor is forced to treat all the crew’s injuries and send them back into the program. By a lucky chance, he was able to revive Seven of nine and explain to her what is going on. He programs her nural implant to disable the hirogen device linking her to the system after about ten minutes in the holodeck.

So, Seven wakes up right in the middle of singing a song, telling the pianist, “we’ll have to continue this activity at a later time.” She knows nothing about WWII, so she does her best to blend in. This, to say the least, is not an easy task. Janeway and Tuvok begin to think Seven is a Nazi spy, and plan to kill her at the first sign of betrayal. Meanwhile, Seven tries to disable the crew’s nural interfaces from within the holodeck. She manages to disable the Captain’s just before Janeway was going to kill her. Talk about a close call. Part I ends there.

Explanation of Transporters

The transporter is a subspace device which can instantaneously teleport any object to any location within transporter range. The transporter dematerializes the object or person into a data file that can be transmitted anywhere within range. Because the object turns into a data file (kind f like a temporary computer program) this allows the genetic signature of the object or person to remain in “transporter suspension” if necessary. This basically leaves the genetic signature in the system for a short period of time. Objects and humans can only remain in that state for a short while (less than 24 hours usually) before their genetic code begins detiorating and the object doesn’t retain its condition. Once an object is ready to be transported, its pattern is reassembled at the desired location. The trouble usually arises with reassembling everything correctly. If things go wrong, a person could end up having an arm in the wrong place.
